Positano Shore was Incredible!

On Sunday June 14th we all traveled to Positano, Italy! The drive there was somewhat frightening as we took a huge bus up the hill literally looking over the edge of the cliff the whole way up with nothing but a guardrail 1/7th of the size of the bus as a barrier. After the very scary one hour bus ride from Sorrento concluded we had finally reached our destination. Positano was breathtakingly beautiful. It's something you see on the Internet or as someone's screensaver, but never imagine to see in real life.

Positano has the bluest waters I've ever seen surrounded by black sand and rocks. The black sand gets very hot as it absorbs heat and has a low albedo. The walk down to the beach had many floral arrangements and plants blooming on the top of buildings, in the sides of buildings, in pots outside stores and restaurants, etc. From the beach looking up towards the hills we had a view of the entire town of Positano with buildings of all different colors nestled into the side of the hill. As soon as we set up camp on the beach we ran towards the water! The water was a little bit chilly, but fine once you got used to it for a few minutes. Treading water through the waves was quickly exhausting so we would take frequent breaks by sitting on the shoreline and chatting over drinks!

As they say, time flies when you're having fun. Before we knew it it was time to leave the beach and we had less than thirty minutes to make it back up the hill to catch our bus back to Sorrento. Little did we know that the climb up would involve over 600 steps which is the equivalent of climbing The Duomo in Firenze twice! I don't know how we made it to the bus stop in time, but we did with lots of heavy breathing and wheezing.

Despite the climb up what felt like Mt. Everest today was a fantastic day filled with so much beauty and adventure. It's never a dull moment in Italy and I wouldn't change my time here for anything.
