We have finally arrived in Sorrento
and I could not be happier! The drive in from on the bus from the Naples
airport was a bit of a rough start, but the amazing scenery made up for it
completely. All you could see was this deep blue Mediterranean Sea for miles
upon miles. We curved up and down through the small, winding roads on this
giant bus like it was no big deal and before we knew it we were at the hotel.
Immediately, we dropped our bags off and fresh pizza and dessert was being
shoved our way and, I mean, who were we to say no? The margherita pizza was so
fresh that it immediately melted in our mouths. We had a tiramisu gelato cake
afterwards that was absolutely to die for and our waiter said that that dessert
isn’t even available in the United States.
After changing clothes and stuffing
our faces, we instantly knew what to do next. SHOPPING! The stores in this town
are endless and the streets are lined with one boutique after the next, which
is SO up my alley. I am a shopping queen. We walked up and down every street we
could find and strolled along observing the architecture and culture so we
could soak it up as quickly as possible.
For dinner, we came back to the
hotel and had delicious pasta that was coated in sort of a vodka sauce with mozzarella
cheese. SO DECADENT. Following dinner, we knew we wanted to explore the night
life and so that’s what we did. There was a little market set up with all sorts
of trinkets and antiques. The streets were flooded with mostly locals, but also
tourists too. The city was just as beautiful in the night time as it was when
we first arrived that afternoon.
I am so excited to spend these next
few nights in Sorrento so I can explore this beautiful town! I am positive that
we will make memories that will last a lifetime!
